From the ages of 10-19 , I have been institutionalized in one way or another, whether it was in the form of probation, drug rehab, a mental hospital or juvenile hall. Raised by a single mom, typical story of a youth gone down the wrong path, I resulted to self destructive behaviors. Drugs, attempted suicide, fights, getting kicked out of home, schools , & behavior programs all were part of my coming of age. Not everyday was all doom & gloom growing up but a lot was, even with a loving family. I had to find my inner light & unfortunately it had to be in the darkness of a cell. I hope by sharing my pain through art, someone else can prosper through the struggle & realize they aren't alone. This is my story, my redemption, a tale of the INSTATUTION.
